Catherine Deneuve herself was intimately involved in the creation of this iconic chypre, its elegant packaging, and the marketing message of a sophisticated, independent, powerful woman. Released in 1986 in collaboration with AVON and Parfums Phenix, Deneuve gives a nod to Yves St. Laurent's Y of 1964 and Jean-Louis Scherrer's signature scent of 1979. Bois de Jasmin blogger Victoria Frolova also cites the influence of Christian Dior's Miss Dior of 1947 and Chanel's 1970 release No. 19.
Deneuve won the FiFi award in 1987, but has since been discontinued. Such concentrations of true oakmoss (Evernia prunastri) in a scent would not be allowed by the current IFRA regulations, nor would it be financially feasible to create.
This fragrance is in the Chypre family, and is a classical representation of such. Notes include:

Green notes, Galbanum, Bergamot, Neroli, Basil, Aldehyde
Heart Notes
Rose, Muguet, Jasmin, Orris, Ylang-Ylang, Violet, Hyacinth
Base notes
Moss, Musk, Cedarwood, Sandal, Civet
