Giorgio Armani GIO vintage eau de parfum
Giorgio Armani GIO vintage eau de parfum
Gio, a fruity-floral fragrance for women, was launched in 1992 to replace Armani's "Armani" from a decade prior. Giorgio Armani himself was deeply involved in the creation of the fragrance, with New York Magazine stating in 1993 that "Armani himself orchestrated every last detail. He chose the scent, the shape of the bottle, the parchment packaging, the sales ads, and the sales assistants mustard coat dresses." This dream was brought to life by perfumer Francois Caron. The bottle was inspired by the perfume bottles of the early 20th century with rounded edges and a sparkling, gold cap, while the perfume was meant to be reminiscent of the the past, but with a modern twist - a perfume that could easily follow women from their youth throughout their entire lives. Gio, sadly discontinued, is now extremely rare and difficult to find.
Gio offers accords of white floral, warm spicy, woody, floral, amber, tuberose, powdery, citrus, green, and animalic notes. This fragrance begins fresh, bright, and green floral before transitioning into a more robust floral with notes of fruit, finally fading to a warm, woody, ambery and vanillic base.
