Grossmith KING'S SALUTE eau de parfum

King's Salute is a 2023 release from London perfume house Grossmith - a house originally founded in the 19th century by John Grossmith before being resurrected. Years of research led to finding the original formula books, from which Grossmith's original 19th century fragrances were brought back. Today, Grossmith is run by Simon, Amanda, Eleanor, and Kate Brooke - 5th and 6th generation descendants of John Grossmith - that have "restored Grossmith to its rightful place as a prominent classic English perfume house that once again is producing the finest perfume in the world."

King's Salute, an Aromatic Fougere, is one of the Royal Collection fragrances, which have re-connected Grossmith with royalty, having been created to celebrate recent, significant royal occasions." King's Salute celebrates the coronation of King Charles III. This fragrance was composed by Matthieu Meneuvrier.

"King’s Salute, the third member of Grossmith’s Royal Collection, launched on Coronation Day, celebrates the King’s passion for plants and gardening while renewing Grossmith’s historic connections to lavender.

We know of the King’s love for his Highgrove garden and that lavender and thyme are found in abundance there.

Opening with bright citrus and bold lavenders, this celebratory aromatic fougère dries down to a heart of iris and thyme with nuances of black pepper and cardamom. The lavender note is sustained throughout, supported in the base by subtly sweet musks and amber.

The distinctive purple label is matched with the Royal Mail First Class postage stamp, the colour of which was originally chosen for Queen Elizabeth and which King Charles has chosen to continue."
