Guerlain LIU vaulted eau de parfum

Liu was released by the house of Guerlain originally in 1929 by perfumer Jacques Guerlain. Liu notably draws comparisons to Chanel No. 5, and the story says that the fragrance was created either for Jacques' wife, who upset him by wearing Chanel No. 5, or Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, who loved Chanel No. 5, but would not wear it due to her husband's affair with Gabrielle Chanel. However, while the two fragrances bear similarities on top, they diverge in the heart and Liu becomes more obviously a creation of Guerlain. 

The original formula of Liu was discontinued, before being briefly re-issued in 1994 and 2005 with an altered formula. Finally, it joined the Les Parisiennes Collection, repackaged in the iconic bee bottle. Liu was re-released in 2021 in yet another reformulation. The original Liu, and the reformulation that appears in the Les Parisiennes Collection, both have an aromatic profile of aldehydic, fresh, white floral, woody, citrus, iris, powdery, fresh spicy, aromatic, and floral notes. The currently available version notably lacks the fresh, spicy, and aromatic accords, instead opting for a soapier, earthier, iris and violet combination.
